Chicken 65,

Someone had asked me this quiz b4... the quiz is almost the same as you wrote it except that you are allowed to flip the switch only once and then tell which switch connects to which lamp.

Calgal...

[QUOTE
You are in the basement of a strange house. There are three
light switches, A, B, and C. These light switches are connected
to light bulbs in three rooms upstairs.

How many times do you have to flip a switch(es) and make a trip
upstairs to work out which switch is wired to which bulb? [/B][/QUOTE]

Hey Searching_help

I guess the answer is German too..

Any how like to know if it is wrong..

how about this?

There is one empty 3 litre can, one empty 7 litre can and one 10 litre can full of milk(10 litres of milk). How do you split that 10 litres of milk into two 5 litres using ONLY these three cans(3, 7 and 10 litres) and nothing else?.

Here is your first step:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 litre 7 litre 10 litre
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step1 : 0 0 10
Step2 :
...

I literally had to take 3 cups and experiment

But here you go

1-Measure 3 litres and pour into 7 litre can
2-Again measure 3 litres and pour into 7 litre can

Now 7 liter can has 6 litres.

3-Measure another 3 litres in the 3 litre can

Now 7 litre can has 6 litres
And 3 litre can has 3 litres
And 10 litre can has 1 liter

4-Fill up the 7 liter can from the 3 litre can

Now 7 litre can has 7 litres
And 3 litre can has 2 litres
And 10 litre can has 1 litre

5-Pour 7 litre can into 10 litre can

Now 7 litre can is empty
And 3 litre can has 2 litres
And 10 litre can has 8 litres

6-Empty the 2 litres from the 3 litre can into the 7 litre can

Now 7 litre can has 2 litres
And 3 litre can is empty
And 10 litre can has 8 litres

7-Fill the 3 litre can from the 10 litre can and pour it into the 7 litre can

There you go, damn I am mentally tired calculating and physically tired with all the pouring.

baven am I right, am I, am I???

Dang, and I was wondering why it sounded so familiar.

July16, no wonder you got tired

Because you were just pouring and not drinking the milk.

If I were you, after step 3, I would proceed as follows:

4 - Fill 7 litre can from 3 litre can till 7 litre is full (pouring 1 litre). Then drink 2 litre milk from 3 litre can.

5 - Fill 3 litre can by pouring 3 more litre milk from 7 litre. Drink 3 more litre from 3 litre can and pour remaining 4 litres from 7 litre can into 10 litre can.
