"A" Field is not filled while AR 11, is Address is updated ?

Friends,

Recently I filled AR 11 ( Address Change ) and submitted to BCIS, KY(about 50 days back). And also called National Service center by phone. Representative said, I will receive a notification from INS regarding update, but I did not get so far ?

but Later on I realised that I did not fill 'A" i.e alien no. in the form.

I have doubt whether they really updated my address ??

Suggest me... Do I need to send again ( AR 11) with Filled in 'A' No.?

Thanks

Probably -- I would guess that without the alien # they wouldn't be able / willing to find you (I doubt they'd try to find your case through your name, address etc.).

Filing AR11 will not change the address on pending applications. In fact both are totally independent. You need call 1-800 number ask them to change the address on each of your pending applications by giving receipt number of each application.

Even if you have not entered A# on AR11 it should be OK. If it makes you happy file another AR11 with A#. It does not matter.

Ya, AR-11 is used to change your address for "tracking purposes" (so the gov't knows where you are :p). As you say, this has nothing to do with the address that the USCIS is using on pending applications.

Still, why wouldn't the A# be needed for the AR-11 to "go through" (for the same reasons that I gave earlier)?

I think it is ok to fill the form without A#. You will get A# along with your EAD card. If you do not have it, you can leave the space as blank. It is a generic form for all alien visa types. ..only specify H1B in the 'others' column(if you are on h1b visa) and write your employer's address.

As far as updating new address is concerned, I think you better call USCIS. I doubt just by applying AR from would update the address. I filled the form but address did not get updated until I called USCIS.

and write also your new address and other info. In visa expiry date column put 'I485 pending' ; no need to write I94 expiry date and no need to write A# as your I 94 number. Anyway consult your attorney for more clarification and latest rules.
