A few questions

I was with this consulting company in 2000 when they filed for my green card. I got my labor approved in mid 2001. My address was given as one in Atlanta, Georgia where I never resided. I left the company and joined a different company in PA as a fulltime employee in end of 2001. While I was working in this company , after a gap of more than a year after my labor was approved I asked the consulting company if they can continue the sponsorship. As we have good terms with each other they agreed and filed my 140 and 485 concurrently in Oct 2002. My address was still given as the one in Atlanta, Georgia, the original address which I had used while filing labor initially. My 140 got approved in mid 2003. I am waiting for Fingure Printing to come. My question now is , when I get my FP notice do they check my current address? Do I need to carry some proof of residence documents? What if I change my address to one where I am living ( in PA) now? Are there any chances of my case getting transferred to different service center if I do that? How can I get address proof at the place in Atlanta, Georgia if it is what is needed? My employer said he would give me a letter saying their records have my address as that address, but would it suffice?

Thanks.

Hi,

To the best of my knowledge, they bother baout your ID and not your present address.

You can always reside in a different place for a temporary period. I think you need to notify every body if you change your primary residence.

As always check with a lawyer.

Id

If I get FP notice now can I get it done at a place closer to where I live? What do I need to carry with me when I go for fingure printing?

Thanks.

U can

Yoi can do it at any ASC close to your place. There were a few posts where people claimed doing it at locations other than the one specified in FP notice.

Got it

I can then show my Ids with current address? What else do I need to take with me?

Thanks.

docs

1) FP Notice
2) Id
3) Keep with you ur 485 Receipt notice. Not required but keep it as back up.
4) One utility bill for proof of address. Not required but keep it as back up.

Remember, the Finger printing guys are contractors. They don't really care too much. Just carry you ID and the FP notice and you'll be done in less than an hour.

Contractors but ..

But more often than not in these kind of cases they refer to the IO at the ASC. It might sound surprising but yes every ASC has an IO sitting inside to resolve issues. Thats what happened to me. The IO sitting inside found that the A# on my receipt notice was incorrect. She prepared a manual FP form and met me personally to explain the issue.
