A DAY IN THE LIFE OF USCIS

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) receives between six and eight million applications and petitions every year. As such, USCIS is the largest immigration service in the world. On a daily basis, the 15,000 federal and contract employees of USCIS accomplish the following at our 250 offices worldwide:
  • Conduct 135,000 national security background checks
  • Receive 135,000 visitors to our Internet site (USCIS.gov)
  • Answer phone inquiries from 82,000 calls to our toll-free customer service phone line
  • Process 30,000 applications for immigrant benefits
  • Answer in-person inquiries from 19,000 visitors to information counters at 92 local offices
  • Issue 7,000 Permanent Resident Cards (green cards)
  • Capture 8,000 sets of fingerprints at 130 Application Support Centers
  • Welcome 2,100 new citizens
  • Welcome 3,500 new permanent residents
  • Welcome nearly 200 refugees from around the world
  • Help American parents adopt nearly 80 foreign-born orphans
  • Grant asylum to 80 individuals already in the United States
  • Naturalize 20 individuals serving in the United States military

USCIS is working hard... so relax.

They forgot a few other things they do ...

USCIS is working hard... so relax.

* Lose 500-1000 applications.
* Transfer about 500-1000 applications to the wrong office
* Send out pointless RFEs to thousands of cases that can be avoided

What I am trying to say is that it all depends on which part of the USCIS process your case happens to fall under. If it falls under the hardworking side you are good to go. If it falls under the category I am in, it is hard to think of anything good to say about this agency.

regards,

saras

7000 GC per day ... does that mean the majority of the population do not visit this forum ...

There are just one or two GC per week in this forum.

Hmm ...

Why don't we come into this category of 7000 GC per day? or when we will come in this category.

Long wait.

All immigration gurus say that --- for EB3 from retro affected countries ... its a very very long wait --- some say few years.

Someone rightly suggested that -- EB3 should stop asking for faster GC processing ... instead ask for increasing the validity period for EAD.

If you are outside this group --- U will come into the manifold of 7000 GC per day soon.

Good luck.

USCIS and following words are really contradicting for most of us in this forum:

Conduct.....
Receive.....
Answer.....
Process.....
Answer in-person.....
Issue.....
Welcome.....
Help.....
Grant.....
Naturalize.....

And the last one should really be : "USCIS is relaxing...so work hard."

Yes.. thats correct.

The worldwide quota for immigrant visas is 675,000 visas per fiscal year.
( Family Based 480,000 + Employment Based 140000 + Ethnic Diversity 55000).

But some guys like immediate relatives of US citizens & refugees are not counted against 675,000.

say -- there are 50,000 refugees (200 every day = 200 * 250)
Say another 150,000 of immediate relatives of US citizens plus others

Say the working days per year at Service centers are 250.

so 875,000/250 = 3500 -- are the new GC per day.

:( [But compare that with 2 approvals per week for the forum members] :(
