9th year renewal with I797B

well my employer filed my extension package 7 days late so the uscis approved it but with an i797b form,which means i need to go to a consulate and get the visa stamped again.technically i am out of status since september 2009

i am very anxious over this situation.should i travel and get it stamped at this point or not?will the new memo which was recently circulated create some problems for me? my employer has direct clients and i work for one there direct clients.

any feedback much appreciated.

The way I see it, you have no choice. You are already out of status from the day your last I-94 expired. Accruing more and more time in the US will only hurt you.
