Hi Guys

I got my GC on April 25, 2001. I am thinking of posting my N-400 on 01/26/06 so that it reaches INS on 01/27/06. M I calculating 90 days clause correctly. Just want to be sure before I start on this long awaited journey.

Thanks

your 5 yrs would be up by april 25, 2006. you can apply it on April 25, 2006 - 90 days.

Sorry, I do not want to do the math because i do not want to give incorrect info (if any). however, it is so simple for you to back track the day, isn't it?

if you are worry about it, why don't you apply citizenship in Feb 2006?

If I were you I'll apply on Feb. 01, 2005. And hopefully because of my bad advice you'll get your Naturalization Certificate 5 days later that the date you could get it ;)

I have the same question

I received my green card May 02, 2001. After I received by green card, I was out of the country for 35 days. While calculating 5 years - 90 days, should I take into account the 35 days that I was not present in the USA.

35 days are ok. you can caluclate your time as 5 yrs - 90 days.

i really encourage readers who have questions about eligibility on their n400, you should really read the n400 guideline

Thanks guys..You are right ..I am unnecessarily fretting over something small. 2-3 days here and there does not really matter, I guess...!

i would suggest you to apply it sometime in Feb just to be safe.

it would not be good if you miscounted one day off, would it?

i think i had waited till 5 yrs - 40 days. however, i was on a vacation, and got so much stuff to handle after i returned back.
