7th Year H1 Extension question

(Following is a query from a friend)

I'll complete 6 years on H1 in year and half. The company(A) that I'm working for is a small company and my lawyer has advised me agianst applying green card from that company.
(1) Can another company B apply Green Card/labor certification for me and can I apply for 7th Year extension based on that. Do I also need to have H1 with that company also?
(2) When do need to apply for labor certification to qualify for 7th year H1 extension. I understand it is one year before 6 year completion is that correct.

1) Yes. No need to have H1b with B.
2) It is correct that 365 days old LC on H1 expiration can give 7th year extension.
