7th year H1 extension after PERM application

My current H1 is getting over in Sep'06. I hv not applied for a labor clearance yet. Since per the PERM process, labor is supposed to be clear within 3 months, will I get my 7th year H1 extension if my labor is cleared on May'06? I guess my question is w.r.t old LC method & new PERM process and 7th year extension. In old method, the labor application has to be filed atleast a year before the H1 quota gets over. Does that still hold good in PERM?

There's no update that 7th year extension is any different with PERM so far. If you haven't started on PERM yet (it takes 2+ months to prepare) you should start right away so you can file PERM (that's the date that counts) by the beginning of October. At worst you need to catch up time to get the 7th year extension when you need to in a year.
Otherwise hope that PERM will be fast enough to get you at least to EAD.

Whether it is new PERM or old process, you should have applied your LC before Sep 05 (you did not give any date) to qulaify 7th year extn. Does not matter whetehr it got approved or not. It is just "Applied"
