7th Year Extension

Hello friends

I have friend waiting for EAD approval. If the EAD is not approved by the time H1 expires, he is thinking of applying for 7th year extension. When he enquired with the attorney, they said that the Form I-129 needs to be applied.

For the 7th year extension, is it the I-129 or I-539?

I-129. You are not only extending non-immigrant status, but also the underlying employment petition. H, L and TN extensions are always filed using an I-129.
