Hey everyone,
I am looking for information/questions/threads related to 7th year H-1B extension and visa stamping experiences in mumbai consulate or any consulate in india.
What kind of questions expected during the interviews for 7th year H-1B extesions?
Is it feasible or should one go to Canada/Mexico?
Also if anyone had their visa stamped in Mumbai Consulate for 7th (or plus)H-1B extension ?
Any feedback will be appreciated?

Thanks

Hello,

I recently (on Jun 15) got my H1b stamping in India. This is for my 8th year extension and was in Delhi Consulate. We also had a H4 ext stamped.

I believe as long as the paperwork is in order, should be easy. There was not many questions asked.

I think process of getting a appointment in India, specially in cases where you are restricted on travel dates is the key. It is also a hassle to have some one in India get HDFC receipts for you and then only you can complete the details on Vfs website for visa appointment. Also, your H1 extension WAC# is needed for making an appt on the website.

I was asked where did I do my masters and why did I switch to work in IT industry from an Eng in non IT. Once I answered him, he didn't say anything. Stamped passports came in mail within 3 days.

If time and budget permits I would try with Canada or Mexico, rather than India just to avoid the hassles on HDFC receipts, appointment. Even for changing appt you need to cancel prior one to get a new one, which requires you to complete the application all over again.

Hope this helps and Good Luck

This is encouraging. I already have the appointment , HDFC reciepts etc. Its the final step of interview thats pending. Appreciat the feedback.

Also, let me know if you were briefed up answering any H-1B questions with pending LC? Are they any company specific documents to be carried for the interview..like company photos, etc?

Thanks

I got my 8th year stampped last month from Delhi consulate. It was cool, not even asked any document except few questions about job type and employer.
Take all the docs - mainly Employ verification letter, all W2s, recent paystubs and rest H1 documents.

Did you guys schedule it as an emergency appointment or was it a regular one? I have scheduled mine as emergency appointment and taking previous 797 as a proof for previously working in US (returning worker). Do you think I need to take any other documentation or anything else you all might want to let me know about?

How do you take an emergency appointment?

Could you please elaborate on how to get an emergency appointment via the VFS website? When I check the appt availability, it shows same dates for regular as well as emergency apptmnts.
