7 months!

called up USCIS hotline today, and they told me they will process the case by the receiving date that appears online (not your PD), which in my case, a week later than PD:mad:
and the current processing time would be 7 months therefore I am supposed to receive IL "somewhere between 5-7 months", since my case's been pending for 5 months already, and if I dont, that's considered over processing time, so I can call back to check what status I'm in...
This is all I got for today's checking:(
This waiting period is grilling me:mad:

I understand the frustration of waiting however let me shed a different light on this.

When I filed this spring the standard processing time was 6 months. I found it was a long period but still filed anyway. I received my Interview Letter for an Interview scheduled 6 months minus one day before the Priority Date. This actually comforted me because it showed for my particular case that the USCIS was sticking to the 6 month processing time.

We are now at a point where LOTS AND LOTS of applications have been filed. Since the USCIS posts that the current processing time is 7 months, I would take their word for it - if your application gets processed in a way that you are being interviewed 7 months to the date appearing online, I still would consider it quite a "tour de force" / performance from the USCIS to keep their posted processing time in spite of a tremendous number of (other) applications.

This is obviously based on my own, limited personal experience. Also some other factors intervene in individual cases (I am aware of the fact that some applications get processed at lightining speed while others take much longer than the 6 or even 7 months).

Just trying to put a positive spin on the waiting experience...

You gotta be kidding me!!!

I think you haven't hardly waited enough...I had to wait for 6 months after fingerprinting to get the interview letter...calm down and relax!

I filed in January 2007 and FP in February and I am still waiting for IL! From what the USCIS officer told me over the phone, it takes the USCIS 7 months to process your application but this period of 7 months doesn't include the time for FBI's name check. So, hope you got lucky... otherwise, it's a LONG WAIT.

Not to scare anyone, but a very good friend of mine just took his oath after 3.5 years of N-400 processing time. You want to know why USCIS took so long? Well my friend is married to a born US citizen. That US citizen was previously married and had sponsored that person's (her ex-spouse) immigrant visa. That marriage bombed within 12 months and then after a gap of 2 years the US citizen married my friend and sponsored him for an immigrant visa. Only during my friend's naturalisation did USCIS decide to investigate whether the US citizen is in the business of sponsoring foreign born males for green cards. They took 3.5 years to come to the conclusion that she is not.
