Fellow forumers,

It has been 7 months since I got my I551 stamp and havent received my plastic card yet - called the 1800 number and they sent a response letter after a month that I should take a appointment with ASC for photo and fingerprints (which I did when I went for 551 stamping) so that could "prepare" my plasic card.

Can somebody advise me on what I should do now? Should I take an infopass appointment to speak with an immigration officer - is that right way to move forward?

Thanks

I did the stamp and they did my fingerprint and I brought the photos with me. They said when we got stamped that it could take up to a year to get the card. I would wait a bit yet and if nothing happens then go to an office and talk to someone.

Hi Grunggy,
How did you do inquiry for card? Did you apply G731C(for california service center) form or did you call the 1800 no. I did my stamping in Sept.

It's unusual for a physical card to take more than 60 days. After 60 days from date of entry, or 90 days from date of adjustment, you can file the following form with your service center:

http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/g-731.htm

Other have reported success using this form - either getting information on what is going on, or actually getting their card soon after filing the form. This is also seems a more 'official' way of requesting specific information on the whereabouts of a physical green card than pinning your hopes on whoever answers the 800-number, or taking an infopass appointment.

A year after, still no green card!

Hi Everyone.

I received a notice of Removal of Conditional Status on my case and went to the local INS office for fingerprinting. They stamped my passport with an expiration date of November 23, 2005. Prior to the expiration date, I made several 800 inquiries and filed 3 G731C forms (Inquiry About Status of I-551 Alien Registration Card) but did not receive any reply. I finally went to the local INS office and talked to an immigration officer. She said that my card was not sent for processing and extended the stamp on my passport for January 2, 2006. She advised me to wait and come back if I don't get it after 2January, 2006. Until now, I still have not received anything. It's only a couple days more before my extension will expire. I am getting frustrated. Can anyone please advise me what to do. Thank you.

G731

I sent a g731 to California Service Center sometime in Mid Dec and still they have not replied as to when I will get my card. Any idea how many weeks/months/years they take to reply the g731?

You got me. I still did not get my green card and it has been over a year. Two extensions on my passport already expired. No reply on my G731C. I will set-up another appointment to see the local INS office and talk to an immigration officer. The last time I was there (2nd extension), she said I will get my card within a month. Oh well, I am frustrated.
