6th year on H1B expiring, employer asking to use use EAD

Hi,

Here's the situation. My 6th year on H1B is expiring in a month. My employer is asking me to work on EAD instead of filing for H1 extension. The reason given is that currently there are lots of RFE on H1 extension and the RFE on H1 may impact the I-485 which is pending. Please advise.
If there is a rfe when on EAD, do I have to stop working till rfe is answered?

You can safely use your EAD to work. but will not hurt to try h-1 extension first,if h gets rejected use ead and continue working.
