6 years completing, but ...

Hi

One of my friend has completed 5 years 3 months on H1, and his current employer has not applied for his labor. My friend does not want to go back to India end of years on H1B. He is willing to change employer now.

Could some one explain what all options he could consider to stay in this country legally beyond his 6 years H1B.

He can only stay in US beyond 6 yrs oh H1 (with no LC pending more than a year) by changing the status to F1.
