5thYearNSC: Passports stamping story.

We stamped our Passports at Bloomington Office
in Minneapolis.

The fun part of it was that our Passports were stamped at
the Counter where they issue Tokens. So, we did not
wait the usual Token-issued wait. We waited in queue
to enter into the main office for about 2 hours.

Some other 485 approved persons were waiting for
over 4 hours with Token-issued. As soon as they saw
our Passports stamped, they scrambled to Counter
again to dispute they waiting for PP stamping while
our done deal. The lady at that counter was not a
security guard during our turn. I believe she was an
officer. Her batch read as "Officer". I was surprised
and asked again are we done with. She said yes.

She took our EADs, I94s and Approval notices.
I don't even have a copy of Approval notices.
But, I will some later from my Attorney(Orginal).

However, I mistakenly forget to add my I94s that came with
other H1b Approvals. If they ask me again, I will
send them by mail. Or I will turn them over to Immigration
when I am leaving to India next time.
I will chek with my Attorney and see what she says.

I thought it will take another two hours when I hit the
first counter and asked the lady my Token. But, she asked all
my documents and started assembling I551 and other
documents. I kind of knew what was happening.
She took our index finger prints and signature.
in fact that form was not even filled. We blindly signed
on the blank I551 form. I hope she processes that
application carefully later or I don't know when.

Another thing was: my PP expires in march'03, but
GC stamp is valip upto 9th July 2003.

Lucky day!.

Wishing you all.

By the way, anyone know how long it takes to get the
Plastic Cards in NSC?

Thanks

5th..it was

NSC's way of compensating your 485 approval delay when you got stamped at tocken counter!! Who knows, you might be elligible for applying for citizenship within couple of years :)

Hey 5thYearNSC

Let me congratulate you first for winning the GC war.

How many days it took to get 485 approval notice by mail.
Do they mention that you need to get PP stamped on so and so date or we can go any date. And do they mention that you need to go to particular place to get stamped.

I appreciate your answer.

Re:

Case was approved on Tue. Thursday was a Federal
holiday. Mails reached us on Friday.

There is no specific date like scheduled date for PP stamping.
They give INS District office address, days and time they are
open, just for your information.
You can go on any date from the day you receive APproval
notice.
If you live in a place other than what was listed in
your APproval notice, you can still go to other INS offices.

Even if you are living in the same location but you are
traveling to some other location a week or so and
you can still go to other location in such cases and explain
them your situtation and INS helps here.
Some unlucky folks have also been turned down
in that situation.

Congrats! NSC5th year.

Congrats! NSC5th year.
So it took you just 2 hrs for stamping or less than that at Bloomtn?

Hello:

Did you go with courtesy copy of your approval notice ? is that enough or should we go with original from Attorney ?

Can we give change of address when we go for PP stamping ? what is that I-86 form ? should we fill it there ?

I am in the process of moving to new address ? Now I got the approval notice?

Re.

Your courtesy copy is fine.
Carry EADs, I94s, Passport and Photos.
That's you need there. Rest they will take care.
Tell them about your address change and the plastic
card will come to new address.
