5 year proof of residency for N-400

Friends:
I recieved my green card in Dec 2002 (via consular processing) while I was in Mexico on an expat assignment for my US employer. We traveled to Texas occassionally on weekends (2 times a month) and for work between dec 2002 - Aug. 2003. However we rented an apartment and established residence in the US (Texas) only in Sept 2003. I was filing US taxes, had a US bank account, SS#, and was being paid in the US while we lived in Mexico. I was receiving mail using my company's office address in texas till Sept 2003. Questions below:
1. Should I have filed for a re-entry permit in early 2003 as I did not establish a residence till Sept. 2003? Is this going to jeoprdize my greencard or citizenship when I file N-400?

2. As I document the proof of residency for the last 5 years, can I show the Mexican address for the Dec. 2002 - Aug 2003 time period (would this be acceptable to USCIS) to complete the 5 year residency proof or should I wait till August 2008 to file for citizenship?

Appreciate your input and comments.
 
Since you didn't 'establish' residence until Sept 2003, you're not going to be eligible to file for N-400 until July 2008 at the earliest (90 days prior to whatever date in Sept 2008). Of course, there is an assumption you didn't break continuous residence at a later point in time.

Reentry permit does not establish or preserve residence for citizenship purposes. N-470 is for preserving residence for citizenship, but you would not have been eligible anyway because it requires a prior one-year unbroken presence in the US to be eligible for it.

Mexican address??? You have to show 5 years proof of residence within the US. For you that starts in September 2003.
