I have been working for the current company for over 6 years. On N-400 part 6: employment in the past 5 year, which of the following answer is better?

Option 1:

Company xx, 12/15/2000 – 12/15/2005 (exactly 5 year)

Option 2:

Company xx, 10/5/1999-12/15/2005 (10/5/1999 was actual starting date, this 6 years and 2 months reflects my true employment history with company xx, and it is over 5 years)

Thank you for your advise.

I put "to present" as the end date, as I am still working there. Putting an end date indicates you ended your employment...

Thanks,

what date do you use as the starting date?

actual employment date or 5 years back from present?

For the earliest job that I listed, the start date was over 5 years ago and the end date was less than 5 years. I still put the true start date of the job, even though that took me back to 7 years ago.

Why does it matter if your starting date exceeds more than 5 years? Put your starting date as shown in company's offer letter. End date as " to present" (as it's still going on).
