5 months since the interview, still no updates

we had our second interview on oct, 15 2014. The first interview was for i-130, it was approved, my case with the immigration court terminated. We applied for aos at the beginning of 2014 after having trouble finding a sponsor (my wife is not working due to medical issues). Fingerprints were done in april 2014, interview scheduled for oct, 15 2014, everything seemed to be moving smooth. Interview was a joke, io asked only a few basic questions, nothing that could give any basis for denial or delay. Yet, it's been almost 6 months and we have received no updates. Online case status tracker still shows "interview scheduled". The lawyer said from the begining that it may take a little longer because my i-94 was still in possesion of ice and it may take time for uscis to get it from them.
few weeks ago i made an online inquiry and received a very prompt generic letter saying that my case is still pending and they can't tell me much more than that.
i'm just curious to see if anyone else had similar issues and how long did it take? My case has been dragging since 2011 and it's extremely frustrating for both my wife and me.

P.S. i just started reading about issues with the fbi name check. How do i find out if my name cleared the fbi check? I assumed that since i've already had the interview it should have been done but now i'm not sure anymore.
