485 - Visa number

What should i be filling in for the visa number given int he I-485 applciation. The visa stamped in my passort has expired, but i am on a valid visa because i did not have to travel with my new visa outside of US.

The visa number for the I-485 is the red number on the visa. What do you mean you didn't have to travel with your new visa outside the US? Except for a certain couple of visas, all visas are issued outside the US.

Your visa is no longer valid. But you have valid nonimmigrant status (assuming your I-94 has not expired and you have not violated the terms of the status).

They are interested in the number of the visa you last used to enter the US, whether it is expired or not.

You mean, you are on valid status, right?

but i am on a valid visa because i did not have to travel with my new visa outside of US.
