is anyone willing to post the dates when the application was sent to when the receipt was received.
I need to travel urgently or take a risk of travelling and reentering US without receipt.
Any info on the times will help to make a realistic decision.
My application was received by INS on August 28

We are in the same boat. I also need to travel out of US soon. It will be very helpful if somebody can share the information of their MD and RD.

For your case, you can ask your lawyer to send you the receipt when he/she receives it, but the "received date" on your receipt has to be earlier than the date you leave US. According to INS' website, they stamp the letter base on the date they receive the application, but not base on the date they actually open the envelope. I think you should be able to travel after a couple of business days they received your application.

Anyone willing to update the receipt tracker

Will appreciate info from persons who have filed 485 recently(within the past month) and have gotten/ are waiting for a receipt.

Mailing Date : Aug 19th 2002
Receipt Date : Aug 23rd 2002

My attorney has already received the letter.

485 CSC receipt tracker - can one obtain a permission for urgent travel from INS

Hi
It appears that one can obtain advanced parole document citing urgent reasons in two days from INS field office
Any idea if receipt / any alternative document for H1 reentry can also be obtained from INS / CSC?

Any inputs of receipt dates from persons who have filed 485 in late August appreciated
Thanks pmohanan. Your response was encouraging
Am counting days now

AP from the local INS office

Richardstevens,

I tried to get AP from the local INS office in San Jose and was told that since I had H1, I could just use it for traveling. First, it takes a week to get AP, second, it's at discretion of your local INS office to decide to process your request.
If I were you, I would just travel on H1 and forget about AP. The chance that you are going to get it at your local INS office is pretty slim. Of course, you should consult your lawyer to decide the proper course of action.

Since I applied for adjustment of status in October 2001, I traveled abroad three times on business and had no problem with reentry.

Hi, it appears, all that is needed is INS cashing of the fees for I485, once that is done, u may proceed and travel, and that usually happens in a short time ( couple of days from mailing the app). If you have a H1 valid theen i see no problems in u travelling after INS has cashed the check. Your attorneys office shd be able to give u a copy of that cashed check and wiht a letter from them u shd be ok. From my experience at POE they do not check for the receipt notifications. However in case they do, u may show them the copy of the encashed check along with a letter from ur attorney and be ok.

same problem - have not received a receipt

lawyer does not have the cancelled check
application reached on august 27
I also needed to travel but am cautioned against it without the original receipt by my attorney.

If a tracker can be set up - that will help
