485 receipt for H1 revalidation?

Yes u r right. i cjecked with my lawyer Rajiv S Khanna
as long as you have valid visa then u do not need AP or 485 REc.

lease note the follwoing law is equally true for both H-1 and L-1 cases.
TRAVEL DURING I-485 PENDENCY
During the pendency of I-185 if you travel abroad, you must have one of the following to reenter:
1. Advance Parole
Note that if you reenter on Advance parole, you no longer possess H status. You are still in status because of pending 485, but no longer have H status. So you will need an EAD to continue working after reentry.
OR
2. H-1/L-1 or H-4/L-2 multiple entry visa PLUS original I-485 filing receipt.
If you do not have a visa, you can get one from your home country. Pending 485 is no bar to issuance of a visa.
TRAVEL DURING CONSULAR PROCESSING
If you are processing your papers through consular processing (CP), you cannot obtain an advance parole. Travelling during CP is not a problem but you will need an H-1/L-1 visa to reenter the United States.
If you do not have a visa, you can get one from your home country. Pending CP is no bar to issuance of a visa.

I revalidated my H1in St. Louis...
When my 485 was pending (I didn\'t take AP/EAD). If I remember correctly I didn\'t attach any copy of 485 in my documents.
But If you are revalidating outside country or travelling outside the country on H1, you might need 485 receipt ....

Did you directly go to St. Louis and get your pasport stamped for H1 or did you send it through the post/fedex. And also can you tell me when you did it.

What happens when 485 is approved while you are in India in the following two cases:
1) Traveling on valid H1 multiple stamp, 485 Receipt Notice and I-797. If I-485 is approved while abroad, what is the status at the PoE?
2) Traveling on valid EAD/AP. If I-485 is approved while abroad, what is the status at the PoE?
