485 pndg...laid off....need help

485 pending from past 2 yrs...laid off 6 months back...no luck yet getting new job also dont think that i will get one this year...my priority date is Dec 06.
my question is do they always call for an interview when they r ready to pass my GC? Or can i get lucky and they dont ask my documents at all? Looking at the current GC dates does anyone has a clue if i might be ok if i dont get a job by end of this year? Please gurus answer my questions....i am bit tensed....i am mother of an 9 month old...can i show that i am on maternity leave for this period that i dont have job?
 
I assume you applied for an employer-sponsored green card? Most employment-based applications don't involve an interview. But USCIS can send an RFE at any time to inquire about your employment situation. Or the employer can revoke the I-140, which would result in I-485 denial if you dont have a same/similar job according to AC21.

If you don't have a same/similar job or job offer at the time your I-485 is approved, your green card can be revoked if USCIS later finds out, because the lack of a job or job offer at the time of adjudication makes you ineligible for the employment-based green card. Applying for citizenship is one situation that would trigger them to look at your past and possibly find out about the lack of a job.

You're unemployed, you're not on maternity leave. Maternity leave is when you had a job when you got pregnant, you took time off from work for the pregnancy and birth and some time post-birth, and the same employer is planning to continue employing you after your time off. From your message, it is apparent that you don't have an employer who is going to take you back.

What is your category ... EB1, EB2 or EB3? Are you from ROW or India or China? Priority date alone is not enough to have any idea of if you are far away from approval or not.

------------------------not always but USCIS can transfer I-485 file to local office for Interview .

Or can i get lucky and they dont ask my documents at all?
------------------------ If USCIS need any info they can sent RFE and if lawyer filed your I-485 then lawyer will get RFE.

* For leave check FMLA. You are laid off 6 months back.
