485 gurus, please advise me on this..

Very soon i am going to file 485.

I was born in Calcutta, and i donot have my birth registered there. i have problems in getting Non availability certificate also. So, is it ok if i manage to get birth certificate from any other city ? My passport shows birth place as Calcutta, and while filing my lobor application i did mentioned that i was born in Calcutta.
Guys please advise on this.

You can approach the Indian Embassy in New york or Washington and get a birth certificate. I did the same for my wife.
But getting a birth certificate from some other city is not correct.

As per Sheila Murthy, INS needs non availability certificate with two affidavits. The certificate from Indian Embassy doesn\'t work.
