My wife and I got our I-485's approved on 11/2/2004 (ND 7/8/2003) at TSC. I think the approval notices will be in the mail soon, and I have the following questions and would greatly appreciate your answers.

(1) My understanding is that the next step is to get our passports stamped. Should I schedule an appointment through infopass? With which office, Texas service center or any local offices?

(2) What I need to bring when we go to get the stamp?

(3) Do they start to make plastic cards only after we get our stamps? How long it takes normally?

(4) My wife actually has one AP application pending. What does she need to do about it?

Thanks a lot,
-Brian

Congratulations!!!!

You need to:

1.- Schedule an appointment with InfoPass, for each one of you. You may give a try as walk-in, but depending on the office they may take you or refuse to let you in. With the appointment, your admission is granted.
You set your appointment at the nearest local office, or wait until you get your approval letter, and it will tell you which one it is.

2.- Usually you need only what is stated in the approval letter (pictures, passport, I-94, and letter). Had seen some cases where officers ask for more, like EADs and APs, but looks like it's rather unusual lately. To be on the safe side, suggest you get all you have, with at least one copy. Have it in a suitcase, and don't volunteer anything, wait to be asked for.

3.- No, the officer will fill a form (I-89) with your information. You will be called to stamp your index finger print and sign. That form is sent to TSC so your card is ordered, and then mailed. Time varies a lot from office to office. Personally I got stamped over a month ago, and there is no sign my card have reached TSC (no change in case status). We were told it might take 6-8 months, but had seen faster cases.

4.- Nothing, after her passport is stamped, the AP is useless.

Hello Rich,

Regarding the docs needed while stamping, is that letter from employer to INS or letter from us to INS. What letter it should be?

thanks in advance

Hi Tumty

Sorry for the delay to answer. I'm currently traveling.

The letter is the Notice of Action with the I-485 approval, the USCIS sent either you or your attorney. The courtesy copy is also acceptable.

Help Please

Hi Gurus, I need help.
I got a good & bad news in couple of days. First I got an email what my I-485 is approved. havent got the notice yet.scheduled for stamping on 21st.
Just today I heard that i'll be terminated from the job I effective 31st dec.

I had couple of questions.

1. Will this impact my green card stamping if employer tells INS that they done intend to have the same jobs for me.
2. Will I be getting the approval notices I can use for stamping. can they ask that I still have the current job.
3. what can I do now so that at least my stamping goes thru okay.
4. Do I have to worry about anything at these point
