485 approval time after Name Check cleared.

Recently I have contacted local FBI regarding my name check pending, after couple of weeks they notified my name check was cleared and updated to USCIS. Today I called USCIS, They told me that my name check was still pending. Is this normal...?

My 485 is current from May'01. What would be the time line for 485 approval after Name check is cleared. After seeing Aug' Visa Bulletin Eb2 visa number unavailable, I am concern about arppval.

If you get your approval before July 31st you are in 2006. Otherwise, you would have to wait till october. There is a link on murthy.com about this.
 
I am in the same situation. FBI notified me that my NC was cleared on 06/16. However when I called on 7/7 they said that they got the NC clearance a day ago (thats 7/6). However yesterday I did a infopass appointment with an immigration officer in my local USCIS center in Houston. He printed my FBI status and showed me that my NC had cleared on 06/16. So USCIS actually got it on 6/16 itself. The 1-800 rep did not give that info.
So do not worry. If FBI informed you that your NC is cleared, it would be same also in USCIS. USCIS should get that clearance the same day.
I am also awaiting my approval since then. But no success. I think they are killing time till august, when they can give a comfortable answer the PD is not current and so we are not approving.
Take an infopass appointment and find out where you name check status is with USCIS. You will get better accurate answer by questioning them in their eyes rather than over the phone.

Hi skapa ,

From what i've understood here on the forum , and from other friends experience , the name checks aproved by FBI are sent to USCIS , but there at USCIS it takes 2 to 3 weeks for them to update that information in their computers , that's why in their computers is shows that is still pending !!! For me this is not normal , but this is USCIS way !!! I think you should wait another week or two , and call them again , if need it , send them the copy of the FBI confirmation , and probaly they will take care of your case after that !!!
Anyway i wish you good luck , and hopefully you'll get your case aproved by the end of this month !!!

Congratulations on clearing this major hurdle.
In my case it took about 3 weeks for TSC to update that info. I was calling TSC every week (directly using POJ trick). You could also do the same thing..tell representative that you got confirmation from FBI regarding name check.. also I initiated an AILA inquiry through my attorney after 2 weeks of getting name check confirmation from FBI..if you have an attorney, you can do that I guess..As others have mentioned, it takes some time for updating namecheck info..when I called TSC, a nice representative told me that it takes 3-4 weeks. (USCIS gets that info on the same day..but then have to enter it in your database which takes time I guess)

Searched local FBI field offices on internet and wrote mail requesting to expedite my name check along with supporting documents EAD, 140 approval and 485 receipt notice. Hope this helps..

Though I have no hopes to expedite name check process, your efforts inspired me a lot to work on my name check. Thanks for your prompt updates. I have written emails to NNCP, contacted local FBI field offices, contacted Congressman office. Mean time my attorney office opened up official inquiry my 485 pending.
 
Should we wait an year?

I called the local FBI Field office and they were like - it takes about an year for Namechecks...so if it's less than an year...they can't really do much...

Just wondering, if you had the same experience?

I think the information people mentioned here is correct. You need to wait for at least 3 weeks for USCIS to update the name check information to their system after FBI complete name check. I called TSC twice after I received a call from congressman office on 7/16 that my name check was complete. Although I couldn't get direct answer, my feeling is that it takes some time for USCIS to update the information. My guess is that someone need to evaluate the name check result. We know FBI only issue a name check report, like a credit report. It won't tell USCIS to approve or deny the case. There should be an internal department to evaluate the NC result, not the officer that review our case. This is purely my guess.
