485 Applied - Leaving US

I applied for my adjustment of status in the month of July of this year. My I40 is already approved. Due to personal reasons I am returning to India. I heard that once you leave country, your I485 is considered as abandoned so my question is what are the options available with me so that USCIS doesn't consider my application as abandoned or what are the different scenarios in which my application is valid while I am in India.

If you have I-485 filing reciept you can go out of US. To be back in US you need H1, H4 visa stamps if you still maintain H1 status, if you have used EAD then you must apply for AP while you are in US and you need AP to be approved before you depart US. With valid AP in hand you can enter US.
