485 AOS or CP if I go back to India?

Hi Folks,

This is my scenario.
I am on H1B 6th year.
GC EB2(IN) with PD Sep 2006 and 140 approved. I-485 not yet applied.
With the Visa dates retrogressing back to 2003, practically I have no clue how many years will it take for me to apply 485 and then wait and get GC.
I am working as a consultant for a very small consulting company( stick to him because of GC processing). Since the job market is not so good and also due to personal reasons I am more inclined to go back to India for sometime( few years till I get GC)

My question is as follows:
1) Can I go back now to India and join some company and work there.... and continue my GC. I know this may be possible. In that case, when the PD becomes current, do I need to go Consular processing?
Is it possible(because at time of 140, I have chosen to go for AOS)?
If it is possible, what are the chances of getting GC thru consular processing? since I no longer work for a US company and physically working in a permanent job in India?

2) This is kind of tricky question. Assuming that since USCIS moved the PD dates back and forth, my PD also becomes current in coming few months (somehow), I apply for 485 AOS from US.
After that if I go back to India and work in a Indian company... is it possible? Can I still continue my AOS? or will it become invalid? or do I need to change it to CP at that time.

I am kind of confused.

Please clarify me so that I can think through.

Hi ...I am in kind of similar boat...I wish to move for family reasons for approx 1&1/2 to 2 years.

I140 Approved, not applied for I485

Hi,

My I140 approved but i have not applied for I485. My PD is March 2007.
I am planning to move to India for 2 years.
1) How i can go ahead with GC Processing
2) What happens to my H1 Status if i am out for 2 years
3) Can i apply for CP when PD becomes current from India

I have gone through various threads but i was able to find only cases where I485 has been applied and people are changing from AOS to CP.
