I was planning to travel to India in the next 2 months
and I wanted to know which of the following is the best option:
   1) Use the Advance parole to re-enter the country.
   2) Get H1 visa stamped in the US consulate in Bombay and
      re-enter on H1 status .
   3) Get my visa re-validated at St.Louis and travel on that ?.

3) Also, what happens if the I-485 application gets approved when I am
outside the country and dont know about it ? In which case when I try
to enter the USA and the INS finds out at the port of entry that such
is the case, does that not make my H1 visa as well as Advance Parole
invalid ? Will I be able to enter in such a case ?

Come back on AP. It is the BEST thing to do. No hassles at all. Very safe and secure. So dont worry. Come back with H1 only if yu are not sure of your 485 papers otherwise AP is more then enough.

Hope this helps.

No Problem

I re-entered the country (at Dallas, TX) on AP, on Jan 13th. Later I found out that my I-485 was approved on Jan 9th. I don\'t think you will have any problem. Have a copy of your I-485 receipt with you (I was not asked for it, but I had it with me). Fill out a I-94 before landing. Leave the Visa fields blank. Write your A# on the back of the I-94 form.
