485 and studying?

Hello,
My I-140 (outstanding rsh) is approved. The 485 received by gov on 3/7/05 (texas). I'm expecting layoff end of year. If I cannot find similar job (180 will pass by then), can I go and get F1 and wait for it to be approved?

this looks like EB1 category and if I'm not wrong 485 applicants need to work else they will be in trouble when they ger RFE isent it?
