My naturalization interview is at 10:40 am on this Wednesday. This afternoon, (Monday) at 4 pm, I got a Dept. Homeland Security letter inviting me to take the new civics/history test on a voluntary basis. This is the test that will be introduced for all 2008 applicants and is intended to be more in depth and more “meaningful”.

Not surprisingly, I have not prepared for this set of questions. Talk about optimism on their part !!!!! I imagine that most applicants would say “no-way” given the less than 48 hours preparation time.

I looked through the new questions and knew the answers to most of them so I plan to give it a try anyway. There is no downside. If I blow it, I can take the old test immediately.

Any thoughts or comments?

Go for it - have fun. I looked at the questions when they first announced the program and they didn't seem that difficult.

Good luck!!

As someone stated on another thread, you actually kind of get 2 shots at the test rather then just one. So why not, if you fail, you still get a re-test...

I looked at those questions and they are not difficult at all. Most of them I can answer without any preparation, so I guess everyone can do it.

All the best.

If I were you, I would go for it. I don't see any harm.
