3 yrs vs. 5 yrs

questions:

Mum is applying for citizenship under the 3 yrs marriage path but she has been married to my step-dad for the past 7+ yrs since Nov 2000. She has just accumulated 2 years of physical residence in the states from May 2005 till now. Prior to May 2005, she has been living with my step-dad and me in Singapore, therefore had also been out of the states for more than 6 months but LESS than a year.

But the questions on N400 pertaining to how many days in total did she spend outside the United States and how many trips had she taken are based on the past 5 yrs. What should I fill in for her??? Do I fill in whatever for the past 5yrs and during the interview tell the IO to acknowlegde her eligibility on 3 yrs basis? Or I should simply fill it in with days within that 3 yrs?

Since she is filing on the basis of 3 year marriage so 5 yrs doesn't even come into play. She should be reporting trips taken in the last 3 yrs not 5 yrs.

I know but I mean I can't simply ignore the question and fill it in the way that doesn't answer it right? :confused:

Because I did fill in all other sections based on whatever happened during the five yrs period. :confused:
