3 months enough to get OCI or should i get entry visa?

I am travelling in 3 months exactly. Will that be sufficient to get OCI from NY (plan to fly to new york to get OCI stamped in a day).

Appln recvd at NY Sep 29 ..... planning to fly Jan 1.

Or should i get a entry visa (how many does that take from NYC)?

It takes about 5 weeks maximum if your application is complete in all respects and there are no missing documents.

If you have a cancelled Indian passport with SC, you don't have to worry about OCI and keep the travel plans as it is, but as suggested it will not take 3 months for OCI if every thing falls in place as expected.
 
Thanks.... have already got SC (and cancelled passports) and have that attached in the OCI application. SC took 4 weeks but at least the OCI process will be fast.
 
NYC is having issues with OCI website.. my application made it thru a week ago.. but don't know what that means for the entire processing time. Will wait till Nov end and go for entry visa.
