Guys, I received my second FP notification yesterday which is scheduled for 9/12 in Alexandria, VA. Does any of you know if I can get this done earlier than the sheduled date at this office? I am planning to give it a try today and wanted to check with you people if it's worth making a trip. Appreciate any inputs.

Thanks

early FP

My wife was leaving for india next day evening when we received the 2nd FP notice. We went to the INS office first thing in the morning and explained our situation. They said "Snice you are here why don't you give your finger print right now." It was cool.

Well it wasn't so cool in our case. We did make an attempt today and were sent back by the Alexandria ASC people. This particular center is very strict about this and they are not allowing anybody to do their finger printing earlier than the scheduled date.

I know some centers are flexible but not this one...again when all the service centres themselves are not uniform with their approval and other policies how can one expect the ASCs to be.

Detroit also does not entertain FP earlier than the scheduled date. I had experienced this, while I went all the way and was refused.

2nd FP ?? I Don't Understand

Why do they need more then 1 FP, do finger print change? If Yes, then there is no point to take Finger Print, if not, then why second time ??

My understanding is its not because the finger prints can change but because the outdated BCIS systems can store the prints for no more than 15 months. Something must be in place to delete all the finger prints from their database after 15 months. Obviously, whoever came up with that number must have never imagined the necessity for a 2nd FP during the AOS process.

But again I may be wrong, BCIS must have some unexplainable logic behind the 15 month number.

I dont think they ever store the fingerprints (security/privacy issues??) when it is taken by BCIS. Since the database of fingerprints with the FBI is updated, a fingerprint check done a few months back would not be valid. I believe the magic 15 month period is something the FBI might have come up with.
