Just wanted to let you all know ...

My 2nd EAD is approved.
ND 02/27/2004
Receipt # EAC04104xxxxx

I got an email from USCIS saying the following:
"On May 6, 2004, after approving your application, we ordered you a new
card. Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready."

From your past experience, can someone give me a timeframe - how long does it take after this message to actually receive the card?

Good luck to you all.

Ead

Congrats on your EAD approval.

Can you please tell me whether you applied online or by paper?
Thanks
J

Thanks for your response. I applied online - ND is Mar 01 2004. I'm not seeing any approvals for online applications. Wonder what's happening.

With my ND and paper filing, the approval has not come yet. Hoping that EAD gets approved asap.

Did you apply on your own or went through an attorney? I have to file my renewal too and am thinking about applying on my own, any drawbacks in that?

I went through an attorney. I was not aware of any process wherein I could do it myself. I came to know about that afterwards. Next time I will, probably, file by myself. I very much hope that I wont need to renew my EAD further. But ... never know.

Do you think they would treat your app differently if filed on your own instead of an attorney? I would guess not.
As long as all the required documents are in place, it should be fine.

No drawbacks as such. If you know the exact documents required then you can file on your own and it saves you a lot of attorney fees. In some cases just to file a EAD, the attorney charges the filing fee + $250/300/400 (depending on the reputation of the attorney). If you file for your spouse then you would be saving a substantial amount. I do not see any major benefit by having the attorneys do it.

Just wanted to update the fact that I received the actual EAD card in 5 days (3 business days) from the date when my online msg changed.

I find filing online a headache, as you have to take time off to personally visit the local center for fingerprint, digital photo. With paper filing, you just mail your application and you are done. Any thoughts?

joyd,
To add to this, I read on immihelp that it doesnt make any difference to processing time which way you file. Just the 3-4 days you save for the paper applications to go by mail.
Could you please give me information on how to apply by paper by myself? We want to do my husband's EAD renewal ASAP. My online appln as of Mar 01, has still not come. So this time we want to apply by paper.

Any inputs would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot

joyd, didn't mean to confuse U.
I found that the online thing was fairly simple. You still need to send supporting documentation. You only save the application form and the money for the photos since they take the photos and FP.
The only thing is that I have not seen any online applicant this year getting approved and I got worried.
ASC wait time was not bad at all. I went and stood at newark at around 7:30 am, got in at 8, was out by 8:15.

One other thing

Initially when I applied for my wife's EAD she had a Tin # and I think thats what I had entered in the form . Now she has a SSN# and its mentioned on the form that we should enter SSN# and any other numbers that we had used. But It only allows us to enter one number ..
so should I enter her SSN# here or the TIN# ?
Thanks ..

You may want to check with the lawyer on this one.

AP instructions says pay to "U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services", and the EAD instructions says "Immigration and Naturalization Service". I guess it is safer either way, but I will pay to "U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services".
