Hi,
I am sponsoring my parents for IR5. My mother was approved but they gave my father 221(g) citing "FURTHER ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING" needing. What are our options at this point? is there an appeal process?

The visa has not been rejected, so why are you considering an appeal just yet? 221(g) means the consulate is not ready to make its final adjudication. I am very confident your father's name check is still pending.
