2013 June N-400 Tracker

Is your status online set to "In line for Interview" ? They say if it stays like this over 90 days you need to contact them. Some people received it very fast, for me it took almost two months, you have just five weeks or so from what I can see.

Nope, almost everyday I check the online updated from USCIS website and is still on initial review. It never changed since my biometrics on July 9, 2013. I did call the Teir 2 IO and he said that my paperwork is already in the local district office. I am debating if I should wait or get an infopass. Because at least in some applicants, I have seen that there online status changes to inline for interview after 3 weeks or a month since they did their biometrics. For me no online update and not even a letter.

I have a same problem, too. I had my fingerprint on July 25 and now it still initial review. I'm in Newark Office. Can anyone explain this to us. Thank you so much!

Can someone explained to me why, some applicant get interview notice a week later after fingerprint while for most it's a minimum of 1 , 2 , 3 month or more to get the interview letter.

thanks.

I just assumed it all depended on the particular field office you were assigned to; the longer the queue at your particular local office, the longer the wait time is. I could be wrong though...
That said, I have been waiting for 2 months now, come on Indy office!

I got the yellow letter too asking to bring driver's license and proof of termination of any prior marriages of me or my husband.

Hi Rajeev sir,

I have my L1B-Banket issued by my employer in Jan2010.I couldnt travel that
time because of some constraints.I travelled to US in May2013 and filed my
extension in Jan2013 for which i got an RFE.I submitted my RFE docs in April
and my extension has been rejected in May2013.Now i am back to India. I want
to know if I could reapply L1B-Blanket again and do we need to wait for some
time after denial and what would be the chance for its approval now. My
Employer is not applying for L1B-I/L1A.
So want to know the chance of getting L1-B Blanket again.

Thanks much!!!

It might depend on the particular field office you are assigned to. If it's really close to where you live, you can just try a walkin and see what happens; if not (say, still 2-3 hours from where you live), do a bit of research to see if there are successful walkins reported by people assigned to the same office.

Received interview letter today, in a month at Chicago office, different from my FP office, a little surprised, but oh well

Passed the interview yesterday. Here is what happened as I remember..Interview was at 9:45 at Chicago Office. Got there at 9:00 checked in at the ground floor. They took finger prints of first fingers of both hands and took a picture with a portable camera and asked to proceed to the third floor. A security person on the third floor asked to me wait for check in( Yes, you need to check in again!) as he told me they were running behind. I took a seat and he called for people to check in who had appointment for 9:00 and 9:15 etc and they all were handed pagers. It was 9:45 and he still did not let me check in as 9:30 appointments were still checking in. By that time, a lady officer came out and announced my name and asked me if I checked in. I said No, she said I should have checked in blah, blah or else she would not know I am here or not. I explained that I was asked to wait by that gentleman. Anyways, she was not very happy. I followed her to her office. Here goes the interview.

She asked me to close the door and before I took the seat, raise my hand and swear to tell the truth, which I did and sat down. Here goes the interview. She was superfast, bam bam bam..started to ask me questions ( no emotions, no smile, blank face )

1) Give me your DL, Green card, Passport and Interview letter
2) How did you become permanent resident? (beneficiary of my late husband)
3) How long you have been permanent resident? ( Provided Date)
4) When did your husband passed away? ( Provided Date)
5) What happened to him? ( Provided diagnosis)
6) When was he diagnosed? ( Provided Date)
7) You are citizen of which country? ( provided country)
8) Are your parents US citizen? (No)
9) What is your current address? ( Provided address)
10)Your current profession is XXXXX? (Yes)
11) Are you ready for your test? (Yes)
12) What is freedom of religion?
13) When do you register for selective service?
14)Name one state that borders Canada
15) When was constitution written?
16)Which ocean is on the east coast?
17)How many senators are there?
18) Read this sentence ( Read: We pay taxes)
19) Write this sentence ( Wrote: We pay taxes) – Have the pen handy guys!
21) How many times have you travelled outside US since you became permanent resident? ( 8-10 times)
22)What was the longest you were out of country? ( 2 months)
23)Where did you travel? ( Mostly India)
24) Have you ever claimed to be a US Citizen? – NO

And all other moral and good character questions like, do you owe any taxes? Are you willing to bear arms if needed etc – I said absolutely or yes Maa’m No Maa’m etc..

Then she asked me if I ever was arrested, cited etc, I mentioned two traffic tickets – she asked me if I brought proof of payments. I said yes and provided of my DL record, electronic print out of my traffic tickets paid (credit card bill) and one was e-receipt. ( Thank God, I had it saved.)

Then she asked me to sign my application and photographs, also asked me if I want to change my name?
Then she asked me to take all my papers and showed me one paper and said, this paper indicates you showed up for interview today. Do you have any questions?

I said, yes, What now? And what about my son? – She said what about him? how old is he? One kid? – I said yes, she said once you become citizen, he can become citizen. You will become citizen once you take Oath and you will receive oath letter in mail once you get approved.

She handed me out the paper and escorted me to the door. I came out and read the paper, which had the check box checked that said, congratulations, you are recommended for citizenship, etc.

All these happened from 9:45 to 10:00. Actually, I was out of the door by 10:00 am. Super fast!

Paid $19 for parking, Came home and about 2 hours later, got Txt message and email indicating my oath letter is being sent via mail.

That’s all folks! Hope this helps someone who is waiting for interview.

techie_ssp,
One more day and I would have run into you at the citizenship interview in the Chicago 101 West Congress building. I was just there today, probably interviewed by the same person because my experience was identical to yours, minus the fact that my GC was employment-based through my employer. I think I even paid the same for my parking accross the street. Congratulations!
May be I'll see you at the oath!!!

So far my wait was extremely short - less than three months and I've already passed the interview!!!

Sent application - 6/25/13
NOA - 7/9/13
FP - 7/25/13
Interview scheduled - 8/12/13
Interview passed - 9/19/13
Oath - ?

Yes, they do, but my data connection wasn't working there (iphone 5) and I only had two bars even though I was on the 3rd floor right below the glass roof so I could see the sky. I tried to google the US representative's name because I kept forgetting it and couldn't get any websites to work. Had to call my husband. I have Verizon, but ATT could be better - their central office is the next building on Congress.

You have to check in twice - once downstairs and once on the third floor (if your interview letter says 3rd floor) and the third-floor wait is close to 15-20 minutes. Depending on the time finding parking around 101 West Congress building could be difficult so just use the valet accross the street - it cost me $18 for 1.5 hours. So overall it took me around 45minutes from the moment I exited I-94 to the moment when I got the pager so plan accordingly. It is not first-come first-serve - I barely spent 3-5minutes waiting with the pager before they called my pager number at exactly 10:45 (my interview time) so most people were there longer than me if they came early. I was done by 11:00.

I got questions about who wrote declaration of independence, who wrote the constitution, about emancipation proclamation, about susan b anthony, who is commander-in-chief and about what war eisenhower was a general in?

BTW, do you know why your interview wait was so long? I applied almost a month after you and I am already done. I am asking because my husband doesn't even have his interview in line for scheduling yet and we applied on the same date.

Hey thanks a lot for the reply! I live 2 hours away but am not planning on driving there (heard the traffic in Chicago is just too scary :). I hope to use my phone as GPS and time-killer after my interview before my bus away (5 hours wait...). Read somewhere online that they do not allow phones in the building (or will confiscate)... Good to know that they actually do, so I wouldn't get lost or bored to death :D

I ask myself the exact same question everyday :D plus my FP was in indianapolis, and now interview's in Chicago... I guess I should just save myself the headaches and not try to understand the inner-workings of USCIS
