October 17 2012 - Application delivered (Priority Date?)
 
This is day 6 since delivery and I am yet to receive notice either via email or regular mail. Should I try to contact USCIS?
 
I received the I-797C today. They must have sent the email and it got deleted in the Spam box.

Then you should expect a change of status alittle over a month from you Anniversary date. Most of the time, USCIS does not schedule your interview before your anniversary date, especially if that DO offers same day oath ceremony. thats the case of my wife, they took the FP on sept. 27, then waited till Nov. 1st to schedule her Interview date.

Boss, you are doing better than I am. And we mailed our application the same day. I did my Walk-In FP on 10/30. And my status still hasn't changed from Initial Review.

Expect your interview date for sometime in December. When is your 5-yr anniversary?

Usually, it does not take more than a month after your FP,at the most.

Once an interview date has been set, will they update the status again or would they just send out an Interview notice?
