Hi all,i have a friend who has also been selected for the 2010 DV.Unfortunately her husband died in May and she received the first package (application form DS-230) last week 08/20/09.She was the main winner her husband was just a dependant, does anyone know if this will be a problem for her.She did not send in the husbands form, she just sent the ones for her and her children and on her form where it says spouse information, she just put his name and wrote DECEASED,and she also attached a letter just explaining to them that her husband died in May and thats why she did not include him in the application.
Is this good enough?

It is a good idea she obtain the official death certificate as well.
Keep the original and send a copy to KCC.

Make sure she take the original death certificate (with cpl of copies) to the interview.

Does it matter if she sends the copy of the death certificate seperate as she has already sent the forms to KCC? i guess she can just put the case number on it.

Whenever there is an increase or decrease in the size of a family prior to schedule of interview, the KCC must be informed.

You must send the copy of the birth certificate and a new form DS-230 of the new born and the death certificate (no form DS-230) when the case is death. KCC will need it in order to update your file accordingly.
