2ndly i would like to ask, my form DS230 has a form to be filled by a petitioner. who is this petitioner? is it me or my sponsor?

Whatever God has started, He must surely complete it. Those that have gotten their papers or documents, congrats and those that are still expecting, be rest assured that it will come.[/I]
All the best to you all.

petitioner

hi,

congratulations.
you ,the selectee,are the petitioner.
I am also a new member and a nigerian. my wife was selected for DV2009.
I have asked this question previously, and that was the response.

Calrifying. If you are a single winner, then you are a petitioner.
If you participated together with your family, the petitioner is a family member the notification letter is adressed to.
Say, if it is addressed to your wife, then she is a petitioner; if it is addressed to you, then you are one.

Hi Samko,

Thanks for your reply. Please i would like to ask my question further. You said the winner is the petitioner fine. In a situation whereby i have dependants and they must fill the DS-230 part II form, in this situation who is the petitioner?

2ndly, my husband made a mistake of writing my maiden name instead he wrote my marital name how do i correct this error?

3rdly, when i was filling my children's form, where they asked if you have ever visited or resided in US, we were asked to put never but i forgot to put it, does it have any implication?

4thly, in the petitioner's form they asked if we would like to have SSN, i indicated NO. though, they further said my answer does not limit the government from getting any info they want from me to get that one done. I think that solves the problem.

I took a decision this morning by writing KCC about those errors and i asked them to effect the changes. Do you think they will do? I have also printed the mail i sent to them so that i will take it along with me to the interview.

I guess i am on the right track.

Finally, i will like to ask, it seems as if most people in the house reside in the US. is it true?

Nevertheless, i love you all. God bless you as we continually rob minds in this forum.

If the notification letter is addressed to you, then both you and your dependants have to specify you as a petitioner.

4. If you don't have a SSN, you must apply for it.

Thanks for your response.

Please my dependants wrote their names as the petitioner. What do i do at this junction?

does it have any effect on my candidacy? should i send a mail to KCC correcting this mistake?

Please advise.

God bless the moderators of this forum. I am very sure so many people will make the same mistake.

please i am waiting for your response.

thanks

hello Everyone,
this is just to encourage every1 on this forum.let us all devote more time to prayers and also gathering all necessary required documents[most especially Samko....we r likely to have our interviews in October]...the Lord remains our strenght.

It does have a negative effect, so, this MUST be resolved, otherwise, you are under the risk of not being invited for the interview at all.

I think you have to re-fill in the forms and send them again to KCC enclosing a letter with your case number, name, date of birth, and explanation of the situation. It also has to point to updated fields with correct values.
Do you have a copy of the bar code from the first notification letter? Not sure if it has to be sent again, but it may have to.

I think this is what you have to do, but, anyway, it is better to confirm this recommendation with more experienced forum people.

No need to send any forms again. Giving the wrong petitioner is a common mistake in DV forms.

Just send an email to KCCDV@state.gov (include your DOB and case number) and tell them for whom you which field in DS-230 want to be corrected.

Tazmania &DV2009 UA,

I appreciate you all for your advise. I was at first scared when i read that it my affect my candidacy but i had a consoling words from Tanmania. I am writing the mail right away.

thanks for your assistance. God bless you all.

All the best to you all.

well , i also encountered a similar problem when my wife was filling the 1NL. We didn't have a clue who 'the hell the petitioner' on the form was , so we wrote our lawyer's name there but we've still been given an interview date so i guess you can sleep sound.
Thanks.

NL 15th April 2008

sorry , this is the link. Cut-off number in basic terms means any applicant with a CN within/below the stipulated number is eligible for a possible visa interview .Read carefully through the archive bulletins and it will all make sense. In the last bulletin,Nigeria cut-off number was 18,450 meaning that applicants with case numbers upto 18,450 will have a chance to go for visa interview, etc ?. http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_1770.html

When you're trying to find out when your number in earlier years was current, remember that the lottery program deals with the fiscal year (October-September), NOT the calendar year.

What exactly should be written on the field that say Name and Address of Petitioner?

The name and address of the person the notification letter is addressed to - of the person for who you fill in DSP-122.

Thank you for the info. What should I do? I won the Lottery and the notification letter was addressed to me. I put my name and address on my form. But when I fill my wife's form I put her name in stead of mine on item 29 of the DS-230 Part II form.

Also, it says 'Name and ADDRESS'. please advise which address to use - my current address or address of my sponsor?
