Hi, Assuming that my number gets current next year and everything goes OK with the interview, consulate/embassy should send my passport back with an immigrant visa to enter the US. I hold dual citizenship and wanted to ask if they could put the visa in any of my passports or does it have to be the passport fom country of my birth? I simply ask because based on the numbers I won't be entering the US (if at all) before 2015 and my passport form the country of origin will be close to expired. It's really a matter of convenience but if I have to I will get my passport renewed.

Its best to use the passport of your eligibility or your birth place. For example if you have a turkish passport through your parents and a german one through your birth also. On your DV application that you won you had germany as your country of eligibility...here i think you should use your german passport becuase it is what relates to this DV application and the turkish one doesnt really matter. Keep in mind that the DV visas are only valid for 6 months....Best for you is to renew your passport before your interview.

Now this is a different way of answering a part of your question.
Now if you have a valid US visa in an expired passport then you can use it to enter the US but you will also have to have a valid passport at the same time (both from same country ofcourse). So for example you have a German passport and got a US visa stamped in it in June 2013 and the visa expires in June 2018 ( 5 year visa). Lets say your passport expired in June 2014 and you got a new German passport . When entering USA you will have to show both passports and if all is good you will enter with no issues at all.

Here is a link from the state department where it answer this question:

I don't think it actually makes a difference as long as it's a valid passport. There seem to be a number of applicants who've never had citizenship or passports of their country of chargeability after all. Chargeability and nationality are not the same thing after all.

After your interview you have 6 months to enter the USA using the passport with the visa. If you read through the forms it says something about your passport having to be valid for 6 months or a year after the interview date.

If the passport is going to expire, renew it - I think that solves your problem.
