According to latest chat transcripts at murthy.com 180 day regulations
are finalized by INS and is now waiting Justice Department & OMB review.
It takes a liberal approach and person is free to change job within the same category after 180 days of filing 485. Written regulations are expected shortly. This is as per AILA meeting with INS on March 22nd.

I hope it will be sooner than later. May be by this month end. According to murthy all one need is a employment letter from current employer stating similar occupation, if INS asks for it. Great isn\'t it.

may be. But why worry about it. All they will ask is for an employment letter in the same field (like NIW cases).

One questions gurus!
If EAD is in progress (it takes 2-3 months) and one is laid off, in the wake of new rule will transferiring h-1 will cause problems in GC process? Since anyway you don\'t intend to join the original company due to layoff etc. How soon we have to show the new employment letter?
Should one wait for EAD or go for H-1 T withour fear??

Kalapani, I think this is the only thing which might save 485 guys from losing their GC status, lets hope this helps everybody and gives us some good strength
