1485 Receipt/Approval Notice

Hello fellow Canadians,

I have a quick question here: after filing the I485 app form, to whom does USCIS send the receipt/approval notices ? to the applicant or to the lawyer ?

Please enlighten me on this.

The I-485 receipt notice will be sent to the lawyer. The applicant may also receive a 'copy' of the receipt notice as well from USCIS.

...and once you get your receipt notice, use the petition number to track its progress on the USCIS website:

https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp;jsessionid=cSmJFfFFaOaf

This will alert you to any actions on your case, just in case your lawyer isn't paying close attention.

1. The receipt notice goes to the law firm. I did not get any copy of it.
2. I got the approval notice in my mail. Lawyer did not get a copy of it (or they did not tell me that they did).
