140 approved; EAD limitations?

Hi, I have got my I-140 approved in NIW category. 1) Does it make me eligible to file for EAD or 2) do I have to wait until my priority date becomes current and file along with I-485.

I am asking this because my H1-B is expiring soon and priority date for EB2 category were moved back to June 15, 2002. Please forgive my ignorance as I do not know if approval of I-140 makes someone eligible for applying for EAD or not.

Hi Cog,

Congratulation on getting I-140 approval. EAD is interim benift that allien will get during I-485 pending. So, you will get EAD only with I-485 filing. What's your PD? You have to wait till your PD is current to file I-485. The wise thing is to extend H1-B.
