hi friends,

2 years back, I had filed K1 for my fiance who was a canadian citizen. he was called for the visa interview but didnt get the visa as there was something wrong with his fingerprints. then we broke up and he cancelled the petition (thats what he says). even though i had applied for him, i didnt cancel it and believed him that he did. I also lost my paperwork from previous filing.

Now after 2 years when i filed for my husband, i did mention in the application that i had filed for K1 before but abandoned it.

DO YOU THINK MY PAST PAPERWORK WILL AFFECT MY FUTURE PETITION?

ANY INSIGHTS?

An approved I-129F is valid only for 4 months, unless the US consulate (where the beneficiary will apply for his/her K-1) extends it. Since your ex-fiance' never got the K-1 visa, and it has been 2 years, you can safely assume that it is no longer valid. This should not have any bearing on your petition (I am assuming I-130) to sponsor your husband. At the most, a question or two may be asked about your previous sponsorship.
Good luck!!!
