Hi all,

I got my n_400 interview on SEP-3 2008 and got "the decision can not be made". Since that day i've made 10 infopasses can called 1-800.... 1,000 times (each time was be able to talk to an IO) and still got the same answer "Re-verification". I'm so sick and tired of the whole process (filed N-400 on March-12-2007). I don't know what else to do and 160 days of waiting will be on FEB-13. The last infopas I was told that my case is recomemding for approval and sent me home like the last 9 times. Every time I go for an infopass I got the same .....SH....

If any one on the same boat please share your experience. Has any one waited for over 5 months and for the oath letter ? Thank you so much for sharing.

Have you talked to your senators and representatives? The best way is usually to call and ask them to follow up with USCIS to find out the status and also push a bit. It worked for me; they approved me exactly 120 days after my interview. Another alternative is the Ombudsman, and if all else fails, you seem to be above the 120 days limit for a 1447b lawsuit. Check out the lawsuit sticky.

Don't know what is going on

To be frank with you i don't know how and what to start doing what you sugested. Could you please give me some more detail about contacting congressman and......

I really appriciate. Thank you

There is a lot of material about this on this message board. I would find out the senators for your state, and find the Director of Immigration for each of them. (Check out the Congress websites.) The Representative for your district tends to have someone serving this purpose as well. I would then call them up and explain the situation. Usually they ask you to submit a form that authorizes them to inquire on your behalf. (Sometimes they also ask you to fill out an inquiry form with them and wait; here is where I would push them a bit.)

If you want to contact the Ombudsman, you can find more information here:

http://www.dhs.gov/xabout/structure/editorial_0482.shtm

There you usually need to submit your request in writing, and it takes a while to hear back.

If you want to find out more about the 1447b lawsuit, visit the lawsuit sticky thread on this message board.

160 days still waiting after 1st interview

thank you for your infor. I will certainly do as you said. Another question is there any one who has to wait over 5 months and then get the oath letter ?

Got oath letter today

Hi ,

I got my oath letter today the oath will be tomorrow at 10 am at WASHINGTON DC OFFICE FIELD - Mar-17-2009. After over 190 days of waiting my DAY has come.
I made the infopass and was told my case under review again. I told the IO that "I'M NOT GOING ANY WHERE UNTIL I SPEAK TO A SUPERVISER WHO CAN TAKE A LOOK AT MY CASE". The IO asked me if i could wait for 2 hours I said that I have all day to wait. After 1 hour an IO came to me and told me that if I could wait for him for another hour, 45 minutes later he came back and asked me if I could take an oath tomorow at 10 am -Mar-17 :D And the waiting days OVER. I walked out of the office felling that this is one of the best day of my life.
From my experience after 120 days of the inital inter view we should make infopass every 2 or 3 weeks and push them. The important thing is that ASK TO SPEAK WITH AN IO THAT BE ABLE TO LOOK AT YOUR ACTUAL FILE NOT LOOKING ON THE COMPUTER AND TELL YOU TO WAIT.
The USCIS people are very lazy they just don't care how long we've been waiting 120 days mean nothing to them if we don't push them we will be waiting FOREVER.
Good luck to anyone still waiting for their oath letter. I thank you for your sharing with me the whole N-400 process.

Good work 160days_waiting, this goes to show that requesting a supervisor after 120 day limit can help.

My 120 days mark is this Friday and I'm having an infopass on Friday. Let me try to push it a bit to get a supervisor who is taking a look at my file.

Proud us citizen

I took the OATH today and became US CITIZEN.

190 days waiting after interview, over 2 years after I filed my n-400
good luck to you all who are still waiting. I'm so Proud to be an us citizen

Went for the 8:30AM infopass today. The IO looked at the computer system and told me that on 3/18 (2 days ago), they mailed out a letter asking for additional documents. My guess is that they want to get a copy of my child birth certificate.
During the interview, I asked my IO if he wants the birth certificate and he told me NO.
I should get the letter today or Monday and would push for another infopass next Friday. It does look like they actually LOOKED at my file somewhere between March 12 and March 18 because they responded to my service request on March 12.

Not sure how much but the service request and the letters I mailed out seems to move the case a bit. Had I not done this, I'm sure my file is still gathering dust in the file room. It speaks volume about the imcompetence the USCIS is.

I can feel that the end is not far now. Seeing everyone in the 7th floor waiting for their oath ceremony just made it worse.

P.S: While waiting on line, I talked to a guy who got his oath today. His interview was May 2008.!!!!
He told me because he stayed outside of the country for a long time.

I don't believe USCIS

After all i've been through with USCIS I can say that I don't believe in what the USCIS say. They just don't care how long you have been waiting, they just tell you some sh........ and make you to go home and wait, they're lazy asses. I don't know many months I'd have been waiting more if I did not say "today I'm going any where until I get something from the superviser". It just took less than 10 minutes to approve my case but they did not do it, I had to wait for over 190 days after my inital interview, followed with over 15 infopasses and 4 requests.
Now all the pain is over i'm waiting for my passport. I wish those who still waiting for the oath letter the best of luck, we have to help ourself by pushing them. To me USCIS is just the real pain in the ***. :D

Congratulations. It is finally over for you.

It will be 28.5 months for me when it is all finally over. See timeline in my sig.

I'm happy for you 160 days....you're a fighter...

Could you give us an idea why your case was so delayed? I mean what was it that took place at the interview that prevented the IO from making a decision? Any specific issue with your application...lack of documentation, etc?
