1099 and EAD

I am a H-1 guy who has applied for 485 and EAd.

When my EAD comes, can I continue with my current firm
AND
do a 2nd job with another firm on 1099?

Yes, as long as you maintain your current permanent employment. But once you start working on EAD, you loose your H1 status.

So it doesnt matter whether the 2nd job is 1099 or W2, as long as you maintain your original job on W2. Is my understanding right?
