No, in most cases it is not possible (unless you get lucky) and that is one of the most frustrating aspects of dealing with USCIS. The customer service respresentatives who answer your call do not have detailed information about your case and they have been instructed NOT to transfer you to an actual immigration officer until your case has exceeded the published timeline. The typical response you can expect to get is "Wait N number of days and if you don't hear anything by then, call us back". The N can be anywhere from 90 to 180 (they say 90 if you've already had your interview and are waiting for the oath letter).

Your best bet would be an InfoPass. Even there the information you get is sometimes sketchy at best. Good luck !

Yep. Today they told me 'In the next 2 weeks'. We'll see. Chicago seems pretty sluggish now.

You can call 800 number and ask them to file "service request". Apparently, they accept these requests after ones' waiting for more than 7 months since priority date. My interview letter was dated 10 days after I submitted "service request" - coincidence?

Thanks for the advice! Did't work for me though. Two reps independently suggested me to wait 30 days past current date. Evidently, they changed their practices, sort of.

Service request is available after 30 days outside normal processing date

That's correct.

Last month the customer representative wouldn't open a service request cause my application had not been pending 30 days outside normal processing date.

Yesterday, my case exceeded the normal date for almost 50 days , the representative opened a service request for me. Guess my case probably got stuck in a background check other than finger printing.

N-400 NSC
PriorityDate: 10/25/2006
FingerPrintDate: 11/14/2006
Nothing ever since.
