Would anybody know if I-94 numbers ever change?

Thing is. I received my approval notice that got forwarded to me from my father who lives in a different state. There's nothing in the lower half that says I-94#.

Also, I went down to the Social Security Office earlier today and they couldn't do anything on the first occasion because there was no I-94# in my approval letter. Then, they asked me if I had an EAD Card. I had to return back and go back again ( which I did ) and they were able to do something but I'm not too positive on whether I'll receive an unrestricted SS card or the similar card that's already in my possession. Can someone else relate to my case? ( My I-730 was approved for the information and I've been living in the states before my father even camehere and filed for asylum )

And the last question. Do I need to sign in for Selective Service System? ( I'm 23 ).

The important number should be your alien number not the I-94 number. SSA can look up your status using your alien number. Have you submited your FAFSA yet? On the form they ask for the alien number not the I-94 number.

yes you absolutely need to register for Selective Service (I am assuming that you are a guy; women do not need to register).

I actually went to the SSS website and tried to register myself. It turns out that I've already been registered back in 05 ( when my father filed for his asylum ).

Would you know if the I-94 number is supposed to stay the same? I've not left the country ever since I came here.

The lady at the SS office asked me to show me my passport and I told her that I don't have it anymore because I'm a derivative asylee. How should I have handled that part? :S

And as far as the FAFSA is concerned, If I were to file for it right now, I won't get it until next school year. I'll be graduating in May and I don't plan on going to grad school this fall, so I guess I'll be filing for it next year.

The I-94 number will change. But again it is not that important. The key is your alien number.

Also again you can qualify for financial aid for the 08-09 school year. do you want free money? :)

I wonder why the new I-94 didn't have a new number then. All it had was the receipt number.

I'm gonna talk to someone from the financial aid office tomorrow.

Of course I want free money. :D

If it does not have a new number then it does not. it is not something that you should worry about.
