No need for stamp if you remain in US
If your wife's H1B approval or DS-2019, you don't need a visa stamp to work as long as you remain in US. The stamp is required for people to re-enter US after foreign trips.
Related to this question, has anyone got an H-1 visa stamped in Canada or Mexico after their J-1 visa (or for that matter DS-2019) expired? I am wondering whether it is safer to go with a lawyer.
Thanks for your reply. I'd like to share some of the advice i received: I should apply to State department in 10/05 and also apply for H-1 visa prior to DS expiration (In this case, before 11/05) so as not to be out of status.
