Do you need state license for H1B?

I don't agree with the latter paragraph totally. It might be a case to case basis. I applied for my H1B from J1 ( a waiver job ) in December with a start date request in July, six months away from the proposed start date. I got it approved five months before start date.

GMC92, Oh, good! I was worried that you still have to start! Well, then you should have no problems at all. Good luck!

    H4 - J1 this year and J1- H1 next year

J1 to H1 It's not possible to change from J1 to H1. Once you have started your residency on J1, you are already subject to the 2-year HRR, so there is no point in trying to change once you have started.

    Visa stamping experience for physicians

15-days The 15-days mean that you should not come back from another country more than 15 days from the start date of your H1B, Midwestfp. Say, your start date is July 15, then you should not reenter the US earlier than June 30th-- that is, if you want to reenter the US using your H1B visa...

    Visa stamping experience for physicians

I haven't heard of such a case like yours, Midwestfp, so I can't really say. Logically speaking, it doesn't sound like you should be at risk, but who knows, it only takes one illogical consul to deny a visa. Maybe some of the experienced people in the forum could give you some info. I'll let...

    Visa stamping experience for physicians

When is your H1B start date? You're most welcome! I have a few questions, though. You said you're flying to Canada in two weeks, but you haven't filed the papers online yet. Are you saying that you do not have an appointment with the American Embassy in Canada yet? Which embassy are you...

    Visa stamping experience for physicians

H1B stamping I presume you are planning to have your H1B stamped on your passport from a J1 status. I am actually planning to do the same, hence I have been reading a lot about other physicans' experiences (not on this site, though). As far as I know, there doesn't seem to be much problem...

how long for the waiver in USCIS after DOS and State approval

90 days Ninety-days' supposed to start ticking from the time the USCIS approves the waiver. I agree that you case, User1972, is concerning. The USCIS received my waiver recommendation from the DOS on Nov. 16, '04 and approved it on Dec. 6. What is your lawyer doing about it? Why don't you...

    Trainingcompletion

Yes, you can still continue with your fellowship so long as the start date on your H1B approval is after June 30. You will still be on J1 until June 30 so long as the valid start date on your H1 is after June 30. Your H1B will only take effect on your valid start date written on the approval notice.

Hello, docboston. Yes, you can finish your fellowship even if the H1 get approved much earlier. I actually had my H1 approved in January yet I'm not finishing until June 30. My H1b start date is on July, as well. Upon approval of your waiver by the USCIS, the letter will state that you must...

    H1B stamping

Hello! I'm on J1 and my H1B(change of status) has been approved with a start date on July this year. I plan to have my H1B stamped in Canada even if my approval included my new I-94 so that I don't have to have it stamped in my home country when I go home. My question is: how soon can I have...

Need help on J1waiver 90-day rule

I just want to post an update of my situation as this might be helpful to other people out there in my same situation and also seeking answers: I actually talked to the J1-waiver coordinator of the state where I got the waiver (California) recently and she said that I should not be concerned...

Need help on J1waiver 90-day rule

Thanks, J1victim. I've been so worried lately as the people I know here seem to put too much weight on the 90-day rule.

J1-waiver -how long it takes after state recommended the case

You're welcome. I don't know exactly how long DOS grants the recommendation after they receive the letter from the state. In my case, my employer applied for my waiver through Conrad 30 on the first week of October and the next notice I got dated Nov. 3rd was from the DOS saying "the Department...

J1-waiver -how long it takes after state recommended the case

I can only tell you my experience. My waiver was recommended by the DOS on Nov. 3rd 2004 and received by the USCIS on Nov. 13th. Initially, the USCIS will send you a letter stating that your application for waiver has been received. The next notice you will receive from them would be the...
